Here's lookin' at you kid....

So I went out with B last night for some much needed fun. We met up at Target and did a little shopping while we tried to figure out what to do. I'd imagined a little pool or something low key down this way, but we started talking about food and settled on going to Old Town and seeing what struck our fancy.

So we parked way down on King Street, over by the water, and walked around, talking, watching the kids going to prom (so cute!), and stopping by to get balloon hearts with balloon animals attached (later given to some lady on the street who asked where we'd gotten it). We walked past all the usual suspects in search of something different. So, we walked and walked until we stumbled across Casablanca, this Moroccan place. We walk in and there's bellydancing, and all the tables are positioned around the dance floor. We got a table right along the dance floor, leaned back on the pillows, and let the waiter order for us.

The food was AMAZING, the dancing was entertaining, and we had a lot to catch up on. We left so FULL after our Kasbah feast, so the walk back to the car was welcome. We thought about stopping at this tapas place with good music for a little dancing, but it was getting late.... Maybe next time....

It's been a hot minute since I've had that much fun....

PS - If you're in the NOVA area and haven't checked out Casablanca, you're missing out.

Playin' Hookey

Took today off because we thought we'd have to put Cinnamon down last night. Thankfully, the vet gave her some medication and told us to observe her for three days and after that, we'll make a decision. It was a relief. She seems to be doing better, but she is, as the vet pointed out, the oldest Golden Retriever most people have ever heard of. I mean, she'll be fifteen in June, which translates to 105 in dog years. She's had quite a long life, our sweet baby.

Anyway, today. It felt good to finally sleep in. I've been working Saturdays and Sundays don't feel like a day off because I've been going to church with my parents in the early afternoon and then to my own church in the evenings. So I wake up, try to get in a workout, eat, get ready, rush out, rush back, eat, and head out again. It's not so much a relaxing day. Today was. I worked out in the morning, watched tv, got ready, got some shopping done for my family in PR, went out to eat with my mom, came back, packed some stuff, got ready, went running/walking with Eddy, came back, ate, packed some more, got some work ready for tomorrow, and am now watching American Idol. Busy, yes, but my kind of busy. No deadlines, no bells, no whining teenagers. ;)

Ah, yesterday, I had half of the JV soccer team in my classroom after their practice. They were all red and stinky. They came by because they "knew" I missed them. Ha! Those boys though... They make me laugh.

Days - THREE! - till I'm in PR. Sweeeet!

Today

For today:
  1. I will work out hardcore.
  2. I will buy medicine and boxes for storage and packing.
  3. I will pack.
  4. I will not feel guilty for taking some time for myself.
  5. I will eat a big phatty salad and love it - I need something FRESH!
  6. I will catch up on all those things I've been meaning to do.
  7. I will congratulate myself on buying tickets to PR for Spring Break.
  8. I will enjoy moments of doing nothing productive.
  9. I will finally feel alive after weeks and weeks without sleep.

This song gets me in the mood for PR and relaxing. Mmmm...

"Pero el mar, qué quieto está, y nosotros en recreación. Espiritual, mental, carnal, plantando una revolución. Pero el mar, en su sazón, se ríe de este comedión. !Qué entretenimiento! Me quedo aquí que el agua está buena...."

"But the sea, it's so calm, and we're relaxing. Spiritually, mentally, carnally, planning a revolution. But the salty sea laughs at this comedy. Such entertainment! I'll stay here; the water's fine...."
